To begin my argument, I would like to quote from Mr. I was very intrigued by Barry Stroud's The Significance of Philosophical Scepticism, a course text, and was looking for books related to it that would be suitable for a major writing assignment for the course. Why does Stroud (in Chapter 1 of the Significance of Philosophical Scepticism) say that we cannot devise or apply a test to tell whether we are dreaming? This book raises questions about the nature of philosophy by examining the source and significance of one central philosophical problem: how can we know anything about the world around us?
